The Cosmopolitan’s exact origins are a bit mysterious, but most cocktail historians trace its modern form to the late 1980s. It rose to fame at bars in New York City and Miami, often credited to bartender Toby Cecchini at The Odeon in Manhattan. Its popularity skyrocketed in the late 1990s thanks to 'Sex and the City,' where it became Carrie Bradshaw’s signature drink. While its roots may be debated, there's no question the Cosmo is now an iconic cocktail worldwide.
