  Use a high-quality vodka for best results.

  15 ml (0.5 oz)

  Fresh vermouth makes all the difference.

   Chill your martini glass by filling it with ice water and setting aside.

   In a mixing glass, add vodka and dry vermouth.

   Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice.

   Stir well for about 30 seconds, until well-chilled.

   Discard the ice water from your martini glass and strain the cocktail into the chilled glass.

The Kangaro cocktail is actually the original name for what we now know as the Vodka Martini. Its roots go back to the 1950s, when vodka began making waves in American cocktail culture. In Ian Fleming’s very first James Bond novel, 'Casino Royale,' Bond famously orders a 'Kangaroo,' which was simply a vodka Martini by another name. As vodka’s popularity soared, so did this drink, eventually shedding its quirky name for the more familiar 'Vodka Martini.' Today, the Kangaro is a nod to the drink’s elegant, jet-setting beginnings.
