Born in the bright salons of early 20th-century Paris, the Mimosa is said to have first been served at the Ritz Hotel around 1925. Its creation is often attributed to bartender Frank Meier, who combined sparkling wine with fresh orange juice to create a drink as charming and effervescent as its namesake flower. Some believe it was inspired by—or even a clever twist on—the slightly older Buck’s Fizz from London, but either way, the Mimosa quickly became a brunch staple and a symbol of celebratory daytime sipping.
A fresh orange twist or a thin orange wheel adds a pop of color and enhances the citrus aroma, making the experience even more enticing.
