The Gin Fizz traces its roots back to the late 19th century, becoming widely popular in America around the 1880s. Itâs part of the broader âfizzâ familyâcocktails combining spirit, citrus, sugar, and sparkling water. The Gin Fizz, however, stood out for its simplicity and refreshing profile, and became a staple in New Orleans bars. Its popularity soared during the golden age of cocktails, earning a place in nearly every classic bartending guide since.
