History & Origin

Irish Coffee was born out of necessity and hospitality on a blustery night in the early 1940s. Legend has it that Joe Sheridan, a chef at Foynes Port near Limerick, Ireland, created the drink to warm up weary, cold American travelers whose flight had been turned back due to bad weather. When asked if they were being served Brazilian coffee, Sheridan famously replied, 'No, that’s Irish coffee.' The drink quickly became a staple in Ireland and later found international fame when travel writer Stanton Delaplane introduced it to San Francisco’s Buena Vista Café in 1952. Since then, Irish Coffee has delighted drinkers around the world with its perfect blend of coffee, whiskey, and cream.

Garnish

The drink is garnished with a generous layer of lightly whipped cream. It floats atop the coffee, providing a beautiful contrast and a velvety texture with every sip. Traditional Irish Coffee is not topped with sprinkles or chocolate—just pure cream for authenticity.
